Founders Dan and Suzie Potter from the U.S. gave it the name TeenStreet \u201cbecause the whole purpose was to give teens a street to travel upon\u2026a way to live\u201d. The first TeenStreet was held in Offenburg, Germany, in the summer of 1993, with a total of 56 people. It grew rapidly from there, and by 2000, participation topped 2,000. In 2004, TeenStreet expanded to Brazil, then to Australia in 2010, and similar movements have been launched around the globe. Today, TeenStreet operates in seven countries, with a total of 8,000 participants each year\u2014but we\u2019re not done growing. \u201cTeenStreet is much more than a one-week event,\u201d explains former TeenStreet Europe director Ger van Veen. \u201cThousands of young people leave TeenStreet every year and are empowered to live for Jesus and reflect Him in their world.\u201d In 2020, TeenStreet launched its first ever online event, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
